Who are we ............

Kihonkai Karate Academy has been based in lanarkshire since 1989, over the many years we have produced,developed and promoted karate students of all ages and of all levels. Our classes throughout the local area are designed to ensure all our members get the best tuition from fully qualified instructors.

We encourage families to train and practice together, we believe that our Academy is a place where mums , dads and kids can benefit from exercising and building confidence together. Our students have represented the Academy at tournaments of national and international levels, as well as tournaments we offer our students training with the top karate instructors in the world. We are proud founding members of the International Shotokan Karate Union and full members of the SKGB governing body . We follow the teachings of the legendary Mikio Yahara and are members of his KARATENOMICHI World Federation. All our instructors have full Enhanced Disclosure. We have links to karate clubs nation wide many of our students visit Japan regularly to practice with KWF Chief Instructor Yahara sensei 8th Dan

Our classes range from the very young to the young at heart, there is no age limit to practice karate. Our kids classes start at 7 years old, this class promotes fitness and life skills to our youngest members. We prepare these future black belts for life in the juinor class where the skill and disipline they have been taught allows them to join the main classes with confidence.

The junior classes develop the students from complete beginner to Brown belt level. These classses are very popular with young and old alike.
The senior classes are for the more advanced students where we have students training from Black belt to Instructor Level.

All classes have one common thread FUN, FITNESS and CONFIDENCE.
